1.8t cambelt

Post

Hi,

I've noticed that my cambelt is very close to the engine mount on the chassis. When the engine is running and is revved the belt vibrates and appears to have slightly worn the edge of the cambelt - the outter rubber coating is starting to wear through.

I never noticed this problem before the engine swap and was wondering if people could take pictures and show me where there cambelt is in relation to the mount.
Is there anything I can do to give more space between the two? Possibly even filing away the mount a bit?

I believe this is quite an important issue I need to resolve as I do not want my belt snapping and have to change the engine AGAIN >:(

thanks everyone

Along the longest free part of the belt it rotates just 90degrees, which after watching a youtube video seems to be the correct measurement of tension. However pulling it in and out it does seem to move a lot, if that makes sense

I'll tighten it up a little bit and see if it stops it shaking around so much. Going to file a bit from the mount anyway just in case, a little bit shouldn't weaken the structure. Thanks Bert
