02Agearbox - 1.8T AGU fitment

Hi all,

I bought an 02A gearbox for my 1.8T conversion a while back. I finally got round to mating the two together tonight, only to find they don't fitcf_emoticons__BangHead:  there is more bolt holes in the engine than there is in the gearbox, I've added some pics so you can see what I mean. Am I missing something like an adaptor plate or something? or have just bought the wrong box? when it's fitted there are holes where you can see into the bell housing etc.

as per my reply your build thread, it'll be fine

if you use the 1 bolt that does line up that'll be more than good enough. as I say in your build thread MK2/3/corrado with 020/02a gearbox and a steel sump have no bolts under the engine into the gearbox bellhousing anyway.

the bellhousing bolts are there for NVH so I have read on clubgti

Thanks for that John, I was more concerned about rubbish getting in the gaps, I'm thinking about getting a sandwhich plate(the one behind the flywheel) off a mk3 to cover the gaps.  Is this what you did Andy?

Cool, I'm sure it's fine, I've just got a thing about gaps in things

my was same m8 only 3 bolts lined up. not fell of yet
