HOW TO GET INDEPENDENT VALUATIONS

Hi
I am reaching the final stages of work on a rather scruffy 1991 cabby to get it through the MOT.
I do not have the car's service history - according to the seller it lay in a garage for a number of years before I purchased it last November.
After MOT it will need more specialised work on the bodywork, interior and hood to get it into the condition I want.
I am now trying to insure the car and have been told by Insurance companies who have quoted me, that 6 photos are required together with an "independent valuation".
I have no problem with the photos - but how and from whom do I get an independent valuation?
I previously (up until 3 years ago) had classic insurance on a 1992 VW Scirocco, but cannot recall ever having been asked for an "independent valuation" as part of the process..
I would be most grateful for advice from anyone who has met with the same difficulty.

Many thanks
dengeo

INDEPENDENT VALUATIONS FOR INSURANCE

I have had my Golf insured with Footman James for a few years and now with Carol Nash. Neither required an independent valuation. The latter did require current  photographs to be supplied .

I'm having the exact same issue. So would be interested in hearing if anyone else had had this
