Insurance is such a minefield it's hard to give advice on. There is so much that can change the premium, from location to experience, to age etc etc. One thing to consider is classic insurance which you can get at 21, don't think you have to declare no claims discount with some classic policies either. No Claims Bonus(NCB) is a discount you build over time, each year you drive without a claim you gain 10% NCB. But even with this NCB, insurance companies can take your eyes out as I found out last year when I bought a new daily driver. I bought a mk4 golf gt tdi and renewed the insurance at the same time and because the car was new to me they tried to charge me an extra £470 :o  saying that the car was new to me and I didn't know how it handled etc  It was ridiculous as I've been driving for 20 years and drive different vehicles every day. My advice is, do some homework on classic policies

From the way youre talking i assume this is going to be a long term project before she gets it?

At the moment i think only Adrian Flux are one of the only classic brokers to do deals on under 25's
Alot of Classic Car Insurance policies all drivers have to over 25.
But by the time you get it on the road that may change….

No Claims discounts are built up through conventional insurance cover ie Tesco or Direct Line, you get 1 NCD for every full year worth of insurance you have.
The first year isnt a major drop but after a few youll notice.

Ive got 5 years NCD and my Peugeot (dont laugh) costs me £200 a year to insure as a daily.
I have my golf insured with AF so i do not use NCD with them and thats only £190 a year.

One thing to note you can only use NCD on one car at a time.

Well my fiance has to pass her test and we have to save for that, but as soon as we can afford we will buy.I have been looking all over and for 1500 you  I only found a couple tin tops that was reasonable. I would hate finding a perfect car on eBay and not winning the auction.I'm a buy it now kinda guy.we are looking for something that is a daily driver rather than a project and do things to it when we can afford it.does no claims bonus carry over from one insurer to another?I personally would like to only wait a year tops to get a ca but at the end of the day its down to how long it takes my fiance to pass her test.

Yea it does carry over, if its a daily driver i would recommend a normal insurer because you will gain NCD and you wont need another car. With classic insurance you dont use or accumilate NCD + you need to be insured on another vehicle for commute etc.

Yes you can carry over NCD between different companies but you need to be insured for a yar
IE Insured for a year with Direct Line, gain 1 years NCD and then you can use that with, for example, Tesco Insurance.

You have to be with the same company for the whole year, ie Direct Line for 9 months (then cancel cus its cheaper else where) then 3 months with Tesco does not = 1 year NCD.

Also Motorcycle NCD, Van NCD and car NCD are all different things

Hope that helps

that does help its kind of like a contract to all the people i have been talking to AF and HIC are said to be the good ones.we would like to cosmetically modify the car so one that is kind to new young drivers that have mods is a plus :lol:Edit: Also as an after thought for something like customs rims would it go up more if the rims where say more expensive would it be better to get say fake replicas of the rims so the price doesnt boost so high or are custom rims.....custom rims to insurers??
