Will this fit? Pointless ignition.

Hi guysss, looking to get rid of the old points on my Mk1 1983 1.3 driver, and wondering if this is compatible with my car?

Any help would be much appreciated! Or if anyone knows of an ignition which would do the job i'd be very grateful!
Cheers.

Thats exactly the same as the Accu-spark kit that I and a few other people I know of have fitted.

DO IT.  Best mod for a small block mk1  You won't regret it!

Ive always wondered if you could get these kits for the small block dizzy.

I was going to use a dizzy  off a SAAB 900 non turbo, they have a proper hall sender in them  , and you can plug them up to the standard bosch electronic ign unit a la polo/mk2 golf etc..

Managed to find one, dissasembled it to clean it up, lost loads of bits……..mupppet.

I've used one of the Saab dizzies before and although it fits both the head and wiring plug for ignition amp it was very annoying to actually time up. Either the bolt holes wouldn't line up in order to hold the dizzy into the head or the dizzy wasn't turned to a position where the engine would run :banghead: Involved a lot of messing about.

It ran well when I finally got it running, but I never felt satisfied that the engine was timed up safely enough not to kill the engine.  Plus the Saabs they came off are 2litre and will have a very different ignition curve so I wasn't happy with my engine running with a wrong ignition curve for prolonged periods.

So when I bought this kit which fits inside the Golf dizzy I was mega pleased.  You're using the dizzy which was intended for this engine so you have the right curve, all the bolt slots line up properly so the dizzy is held in safely, and you can simply time it up as you would with the points still fitted. No messing about :D  Works an absolute treat too!

Well thats pretty much the conclusion I came to as I scoured the garage floor for various circlips and screws….  :x

I've got a mejajolt system to put in in the spring ( might save that for the 16v… )

Until then, I've brought one of these as well……will report back the difference it makes. :)

Woops - thread hijack…. apologies.. :D
