Looking for info on which HK and GF parts are interchangeable.
I'm hoping some clued up heads can help with some confusing info. I am able to get hold of a GF engine from a MK1 82 golf cl and I'm trying to work out if it would be ideal as a spare/combo for me. Reason being as I have installed the bigger GK cam in my HK head and done a ton of perfecting and porting work to it. GK inlet, Gt exhaust too. I had to delicately grind out the HK pistons' valve slots when I installed the GK. It ran great for years but the original followers failed with the cam eventually.
Long story short is with my current circumstance (snowball of things going wrong) I would love to take the GF cam (same as GK/HH) plus it's matching cam followers, run them in my HK head (pretty certain they fit, and then put that HK head onto the GF bottom end which has the correct valve clearance etc.
My issue is that there's some confusion as to what pistons the GF has, whether they are chambered or if the chamber was in the GF head. The head I would be getting is 052 103 373F. My HK is from an 84 year polo
So is this possible -
HK head - GF bottom end - early 4 speed box too.
Thanks in advance
