Running hot
can anyone possibly shed some light on a slight problem we have.
my sons 1.3 driver seems to be running very hot. is this normal.
the guage goes up to 3/4
the flow and return hoses are both hot as is the heater matrix, suggesting the pump is working.
are we worrying about nothing……
cheers guys

and put a new thermosta in there
teh gauge should run 1/2 way
and teh fan should cut in soon as the gauge needle passes the right side of the LED light in teh gauge

1. make sure the engine is completely COLD and put the heaters in the HOT possion
2. Take off rad cap
3. Disconnect bottom water hose from rad
4. Allow to drain into a tub so the water can be disposed of properly
5. Disconnect top hose from rad
6. Run the garden hose threw the rad till water runs clean
7. Take out thermostat and run garden hose threw until bottom hose runs clean. ( some times if you block/hold the bottom hose so the engine fills up with water and then allow to drain, helps clean it out  )
8. Disconnect both hoses that go to the heater matrix, run garden hose till it runs clean (you might want to direct the other loose hose into a tub or something so you don't flood your engine bay with water)
9. Reassemble, not forgetting to put in new water stat
10. Fill with water / antifreeze slowly threw rad (a squeeze of both top and bottom rad hoses helps push out air) allow to settle.
11 fire up engine, with rad cap off, top up as needed, make sure the heaters in the HOT possion. Replace rad cap after about 3 mins of running. Continue to squeeze top and bottom rad hoses to help rease air (you will know when the system is free of air, when the heaters in the car blow hor air) after about 5 mins if the temp gauge or fans heaters are not hot you might not have enough water in the system. So allow to cool and check.
12 KEEP AN EYE ON THE TEMP GAUGE is you haven't put enough water in you can over heat the engine
13. Allow to cool, check water level, top up if needed!
This IS A GUIDE AND DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONCABILITY FOR BROEN PARTS. OVERHEATED ENGINE OR BURNT BODY PARTS
Enjoy

I'd book it in a garage before you harm yourself mate.
I wish I'd got here earlier when asked how to flush the engine, I'd of started mine off with
1. find a toilet with a large door….
