Re-routed clutch cable having issues with heat

trouble is it started chafing the silicone hose to the bottom of the rad.
i veiwed some pics of other bays and some had the cable over the top of the cam cover at 45 degrees, a much smoother direction.
i fitted a new cable and routed it this way,
which no longer fouled any of the piping, it does however get quite a bit of heat after a while and then the gear change gets more difficult,
im guessing the cable is streching with the heat.
Any advice?
i was gonna try and make a heat sheild for it or wrap it in that exhaust wrap stuff. What yah reckon?
