Came to change my rad on my jetta (1.3) this evening and it seems the replacement I've been sent is not a top fill like my old one its one for an expansion tank, would it be easier hunting down a top fill or adding an expansion tank? If I did would I need slightly more coolant up to the marks on the bottle? Also the new rad doesn't have the mounting brackets how do you get the old brackets off the old rad?
cheers

Personally, I would try and keep things original, at least that way you'll be able to keep track of what things are, if you ever need to replace anything.
top fill radiators aren't hard to come by, like THIS one (which is out of stock ) or eBay etc.
RE: mounting brackets, I assume you mean the 'L' shaped brackets with a 10mm socket head on them at the top, those brackets just pull out.
