Optimax, Ultimate and Super Friends

Anyone use them?

I had some guy (on the forecourt) trying to tell me BP Ultimate would be great for my engine….. use less fuel, cleaner engine better for the environment. Or is it just better for their already overbulging pockets?

i read today that shell are to bring out a 102 ron (?) petrol likely to cost ?2.72 a litre!

but on the topic, i am going to start using these 'premium' petrols as the car seems to run better. not too sure if it increases efficiency though.

loads of debate on this, so good luck with your findings!

I've heard about the new pricey petrol - only available at a handfull of filling stations at moment but story I saw I'm sure said it was about 114 RON!!

You'd have to tune your engine to suit it to get any real benefit I think but then when u fill up with regular unleaded again I think you'd be a bit knackered!

if you use optimax/ultimate/super type fuels all the time you able to advance the ignition further therefore incresing the power in theory but this is best done and checked on a set of rollers with a wideband to ensure you are not running to lean an exhaust temp gauge would be helpful too to ensure it's not running to hot.

i did the miles per tank test in my rs2000 and got 198miles with ultimate and 196miles on normal . i know this isnt accurate but there was a noticable difference in driveability when using ultimate . no flatspots and it definatly pulled a bit better through the revs
