Leaking Weber after car has been turned off.

Other thread isn't working.

Hi guys, can a mod delete my other thread regarding this, I think its broken.

Basically my car struggles to start on choke, and runs with a slight misfire until its warm, the choke doesn't seem to increase revs or anything though. Once its warm it runs a treat. Timing was done a few days ago which was pretty far out after recently having my cam belt done, this has cured a big misfire that it had.

The main issue other than poor idle when cold, is the fuel dripping off the accelerator pump lever (pictured). This only happens when I turn the car off after a run, and it drips until (im guessing) its empty. I've heard things about the float chamber etc, but it's turning out to be pretty hard to research.
Gordonthegolfer mentioned trying to tweak the bolt on the lever, which I had tried, but its still leaking.

Is it just a rebuild and clean job, at which point am I better of getting it built and set up by a garage? I've spent so much on this car since I bought it! haha

No worries matey.
If you think about it when the engines running, fuel gets drawn through the venturi and sucked straight into the inlet manifold, but when you switch the motor off, some fuel remains in the manifold and in the bottom of the carb, you may find that it only leaks when the throttle shaft is sat in its parked position not in its running position. This may be some help to you, dont worry that its Land Rover based, its still the same carb, just jetted differently http://www.aloharovers.com/tech/ichoverhaul.htm

Isn't there a valve in the float chamber to cut the fuel off ?
Don't some have an electric solenoid cutoff as well ?
Look here for some good general info http://www.webercarburatori.com/?p=handbook

And get it fixed for Sunday !!

Cheers,
Ade
