Judders

Hi again,
when to blackpool on a cruise with local vdub owners.
Weather on way was perfect around 9pm, as we get there weather turned and rain was bad and i mean bad.
Anyway on way back around 20 miles into journey home with water peeing down on car like no tomorrow, come to a 40 mph section on motorway so eased off pedal and car gives a few juddders as if to lose power, i wanted to pick up speed but couldn't has someone in front was doing 35 constant, judders getting worst, i'm thinking car gunna stop but she keeps going, soon as i get out of the 40 zone i drop her to 4th gear and put foot down a little, a few judders car shaking and then off she goes, purring again.
Rain is still lashing down, doing 60 all way home and approx twice a slight judder appears, come off motorway and she cuts out.
Start her again, whiff of petrol, keep choke out for approx 30 secs to hopefully stop the cut out, she runs fine, put bk in choke.
Been on 2 motorwy journeys in past 2 week, 400 mile in all, no bad rain car runs sweet.
Is this down to an electrical fault of which could have been caused by water, if so what would i be looking for?
Thanks for you time, i appreciate any help has always
