Idleing problems!

I freshly rebuilt my driver, had everything running sweet, no lumpy idle-ing etc but i did notice the car was overfueling quite bad.
So for me to correct that i was tweaking the CO jet screw to reduce the fuel but it didn't make a difference so i screwed it all the way in until it stoped and then unscrewed it 2 turns, well after i did that the car was runnin quite shite, so i put everything back to default settings but it does not idle anymore, it runs fine on choke but if u put the choke down it will either idle erractically e.g revs will range from 500 to 1500 or maybe higher or just splutter and cut off.
I striped the carb today and cleaned all the jets and jet ways with carb spray throughly, it made a little difference, the engine idles erractically but doesnt cut off as much as before and doesnt overfuel.

What do you think it is guys? A dead carb?
