FUEL
Hi,
I have been running my 1982 Golf C on LRP since i brought it a year ago and have been informed that i should be able to run it on Unleaded.
Is this true?? Do i need to change the timing or use an octane booster??
Cheers!!!

Ah this old chestnut again?????.
No water-cooled VW has ever needed leaded petrol, some of the higher performance models require higher octane ratings than unleaded has, but no lead.
Your Golf C would have originally used 2 Star petrol and so should be fine on normal 95 octane unleaded.
GTIs should be OK on 98 octane ?Optimax? type fuels without any alterations to their settings

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Anything rated at or above 91RON will do the job for a Mk1 Golf C (normal unleaded is 95RON and "super" type fuel is between 97 and 98RON)
