It will work yes, although i don't know if it'll bolt straight up to your inlet manifold ??

Hello tupac,

It will run but it will probably need rejetting to get the best out of it.

This is a great carburettor, I now have it on two 1.1s. I also have some Weber spec sheets (Thank You Andy Grey @ Webcon) which might be helpful if you buy it.

Is it a new carburettor with fitting kit or just the carburettor ?

The throttle cable and choke cable positions are different to the Solex but easy to accomodate (you will need the bracket for return spring/throttle cable), there is also no return outlet back to the fuel tank as there is with the Solex, and the breather pipe that goes on the bottom of the standard air filer has to be moved as its original position fouls the throttle linkage. But the good news is it's all dead easy to do and the carburattor is far superior in my opinion - let me know if you want some help/advice with regard to fitting it and see my earlier thread in this section "Fuel line restrictors and ICH 34 carburettors".

Here are the jet specifications from the Weber sheet.

1.1
Main Jet 1.27mm
Air Corrector 1.8mm
Idle Jet 0.5mm
Emulsion Tube F56

1.3
Main Jet 1.25mm
Air Corrector 1.25mm
Idle Jet 0.45mm
Emulsion Tube F7

The jet sizes are stamped on them and visible (with a magnifying glass) once you have removed them from within the float chamber.

Hello tupac,

Sounds like a lot of money to me (for the Weber), I think they are around ?147 new new - and it will be the correct one for your car and should have all the bits you need.

The Weber Kit number for a 1974-83 1.1 Golf is 1529 0991

Try Webcon at www.webcon.co.uk - they are very helpful and really know their stuff.

Also try www.fastroadcars.co.uk who stock a comprehensive range of everything but particularly Weber stuff.

As you probably know by now I am a fan of this carburettor !  I bought my second one recently on eBay for ?50 on a 1.1 MK1 exhaust manifold.

Put the Solex on eBay - I'm sure it will sell.

tupac,

Just give them a ring - much more productive as not everything is listed on the website.
