5 speed gearbox??
As screaming down the motorways in forth is not doing my fuel comsumption any good!!
Ive been told that one from a polo S might be the best option? but then been told that one from a Mk2 1300 is best? so now Im not sure?
Has anyone done a 5 speed conversion?
I also need to know the gearbox code if possible as this helps when ringing VW srappys
Any info would be most appriciated

my brother has one in his Mark 1 Golf 1.3
pulls 120mph on the clock with 185/55x13 tyres (on the airfield)
i've got a GT box in my Polo….not keen on it…..it goes well, but it rev's to high in 5th…..122mph on the clock @ 6400 rpm with 185/55x13 tyres (on the airfield, again)
3rd is rubbish…it did 90mph @ rev limiter with the old box….now does 70mph
Makes overtaking on country roads a pain (i.e 50mph to 70mph)
