1.3 Thermostat housing

I'm trying to get hold of a thermostat housing as mine is leaking due to rust from the seam. I guess its done well being 30 years old.
Anyway I've been told that this part I need is now obsolete, heres the part number '052 121 121d' its bolted on by two 10mm bolts and connected to the top hose.
Any ideas where to find one? or if there is a replacement part number.?

you may be able to use a mk2 golf 1.3 thermostat housing, but if so you'll probably have to fit the mk2 thermoswitches/sensors as well.

is the housing plastic or metal? if plastic it'll want changing too most likely! i cant find a source for the part you need, vwheritage and classic parts this is nla

found this though:

Thanks for your help. The housing is metal, I bought a plastic one from GSF to try but it was totally different.
It looks the same as that one in that photo.
Guess i'll try and find one off a mk2 somehow..

I'm in the same boat, I too bought the GSF one, which is completely different lol.

Mine was absolutely covered in sealant so I'm guessing the previous owner learned the hard way too!

I've got a good one you can have for a fiver posted. Bought it new a few years ago before they were obsolete. :)

An early mk2 Golf (HK) flange will fit but you might need to modify your hose depending on the year of your car. The later mk2's use the plastic housing.

Just to clear that up :$

The Mk1 Golfs older and better looking sibling……..

Hello, has been a little while since this has been reported on but I am also in the same boat! I need the part of the housing which accepts the top rad house and is held on by 2 10mm bolts (same as the original author).

Any chance that anyone else has got 1 lying around? Or knows where to get 1 from?

Cheers
