1.1 carb cuts out quite frequently, any ideas?

Hello,

After driving at high revs, my engine will cut out. This doesn't happen every time, though, so it's difficult to pin down what's causing it.

Am I to assume that it's a rusty filler neck causing this? I've checked the fuel filter, and there's no bits in there as far as I can see.

The other this is that there's a bit of ooze around the carb on the plate that sits on the inlet manifold, could this indicate a perished carb mount?

Many thanks for any ideas

chech your wires going onto teh side of teh carb, ones a fule cut off valve for when the ignitions off

they can cause alsorts of problems

carb problems

hi there……ive got a 1.3 fed by a solex and i wondered why it wudnt run at low revs….it just kept cutting out but at high revs it was fine ……..at high revs i presume that the air level getting in was so high anyway that it didnt matter.

I changed the rubber mounting the carb sits on from gsf and it solved the problem……but its playing up again now presumeably because i need to change the mixture cz the air volume coming through is lower.

had same problem once

could be your idle soenoid not working properly -
should have feed from wiring loom, earthed via strap between top of carb ad fuel pump (make sure clean electrical connections.
check solenoid working by removing - if you place 12v circuit (positive spade, negative threaded housing) it should retract completely, replace if unsure if works as cheap,
check current and voltage from feed wire with multimeter to check not a deterioration of the loom like i had - had to reroute new feed.

get you mixtures set up properly afterwards and should solve problem,

had same problem with carb inlet manifold gasket but only made slight improvment.

Hi, many thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into that, as i found the lower of the solenoid valves loose when I looked at the carb a while ago, and the cutting out seems to have got better. Still slightly iffy though, so I'll check out the connections, thanks again.
