viva skegvegas

i went to viva skegvegas yesterday, the turn out was really good although there were only 4 mk1's, its the 3rd year its been on and seems to get bigger every year taking the whole north parade carpark up.

anyhow heres a few pics…

i'm sorry to say mine didnt make it ops: even though i'd promised myself it would be ready for this show i never told myself which year!!

i wish it was!! the jury's still out on the stickers but it was mint otherwise…

It's usually middle of may, often the same weekend as the B.M.F motorcycle rally!

the rusty caddy is Chimps! Good story on that one. he happened upon it in a storage shed on a caravan site. asked the owner about it and he just handed chimp the keys and signed the logbook over. wanted it out the way.

Fresh diesel and a whack on the stater with a hammer and they backed it out the shed.

four good tyres stuffed on and with trade plates they drove it 15miles back to his house in skeg!!!

He's been running it for about a year and a half with no probs at all!!!

crowson punk, i see you live near horncastle and i think i may have seen your car at a gig in louth near the end of november. is there any local clubs or anything around? i hope to get a mk1 soon…

clubs wise no, not thats worth joining! I'm working on a new one we shall see.

picked up a mk1 today
and yeah about 10miles away on the coast but spend most of my time in louth

nice to have another mk1 quite local. i'm skeg quite often, depending on how much fuel I have!!

the mars red mk1 is local to me in nott, thought i was the only mk1 gti owner in notts till i saw this one up at retford local to my missis house. normally go to a vw meet up at retford, looks diff with the stickers and few other lil mods he done, like shortened arce covers, but im planning on restoring mine completely standard.

didnt realise there was a skegvegas meet, is there any more up there this year if so any ideas of dates and time? so can pen into my diary haha
