GTI Spring Festival

well that was a carp day  tbh hardly any auto jumble and hardly any merchandise stands

the racing looked ok didnt bother myself due to the nearest petrol station being closed on the way in so didnt have the fuel for it

saw rov and m7r do a few runs close times as i recall

came over to say hello but couldnt see the mk1oc banner or paste table anywhere so gave up  :roll:

 best part of the day was the drive to and from the pod  :mrgreen:

well i had a brilliant day!!   

i ran in the high 16's all day and my final run was my fastest at 16.6,  which i am absolutly over the moon with.  now i have a bench mark to improve upon.  hopefully the next time i run the pod i will be aiming to be in the mid 15's.  and by next year in the 14's.  what power you running ben and what time?

14.4 @ 200bhp

didnt think much of the auto jumble or the trade stands aswell,
i did 4runs in total,was a bit gutted with my time tbh but i couldnt get the power down with my tyres!!

i got a 15.0 running 158bhp at 1 bar of boost

my target is to beet that by next years spring festival.

good to see who i seen on the club stand

i hear that!!  i couldnt get the power down either and by the sounds of it alot of people were spinning of the line.    i did try and pull of in second but it just spun more and did a 16.9.

i managed to squeeze 6 runs in. my first time ever but i definatly caught the bug!!

Wasn't that bat Ben! I saw you and waved as you drove STRAIGHT PAST our stand but I don't think you saw me! The strip as as expected and the auto jumble okay but yes not brilliant.

Shame you didn't manage to spot the stand, we had the banner up and about 15 MK1's under it though so a bit strange that one really.

Well I had a great day !!
Found a few odds and ends for the missus cabby
Ate a dodgy burger :-)
Met Mark (rov) - nice to put a name to a face !!

This was the first time I have had a chance to sprint the mk1 in the dry
Did 7 runs, the commentator took the mickey out off the first run, I just couldn't find second gear, had to come completely off the throttle to get going !!
My best run was 14.9s @ 97mph with 190bhp
I felt that she was down on power all day, not a lot but not as crisp as she has been. On the way home I gave her some beans from a toll booth, the boost would not go above 5psi and you could hear air escaping !!
Popped the bonnet when I got home to find that a jubilee clip had slipped off the main outlet pipe from the G60, been getting worse all day. Tightened it all back up and she is right as reign again :-)

Did any of you see or hear the jet car ?
That thing was loud and fast, 257mph in 1/4 mile !!

There was a quick Corrado in the 11s that was impressive
A quick Lupo as well.

I thought the road back to the spring queue was interesting at times and poorly marked out !!

I would like thank the driver who caused the track to be closed for an hour because of dumping it's fluids !!!

Can we have a quarter mile at Combe Abbey please ;-)

I had a good day & really enjoyed the vibe. Manage to find the stand and park up.Didn't do a run but plan to next time at the Pod.
Agreed,auto jumble was bob but did buy a pair of smoked headlights from a trade stand.
Nice drive home as well.

i saw lawsy from the stand but by the time i got down there he dissapeared which was very impressive for a big bloke

once i was on my way home i kinda had tunnel vision didnt see you tian :dontknow:

if at the end off the road you turned right and followed that for a few mile s you'd come into a town with a few petrol stations which were open as i brought a bottle of coke from one!

ive got one everytime it said there was a petrolstation it lied at least 3 times

I saw the stand briefly but the next time i walked back the banner was gone. Was the early light blue mk1 part of the stand? My girlfriend loved that car. I really need to get my car sorted

lol…. damn those gadgets… they've all probably shut down because of the credit crunch!!!

The pod is quite near me but my mk1 is in no fit state… can't wait to see your motor, paul_c's and adaptor man's on the track…. I'm sorely tempted to buy another mk1 to put another engine in… it sounds excellent this drag strip milarky!!!

Hopefully see all three of you on there this summer?!?!?

need to get mine prepped for te next pod session going to run all day got a few plans that should see me get into the late 12 second mark starting with a diet :mrgreen:

I wouldn't even mind if I came last all day… building a car and going for it on the track sounds ace!!!!

it'll be nice for the missus and I to meet you lot and then sit on the hill and watch you all tear the track up!!!!
