Run back not so good for me, just got out of Portrush when there was an awful grinding of metal and screeching coming from the engine, pulled in straight a way, thought the fan belt had come loose but on lifting the bonnet it seemed tight enough.
Then checked every thing else I could see, tried to turn the fan belt by hand on the alternator pulley, nothing!!!! Out with the socket set and loosened off the alternator bracket took off the fan belt and tried the pulley, jammed stuck AR*H
Had a close look to see what was jamming it and saw one of the alternator body bolts had worked its way loose and had then jammed in the alternator fan AR*H again.
Out with sockets, cam cover off, allen keys at the ready and removed the alternator, then unscrewed the now bent bolt, checked the other 3 and got the alternator back in, fired her up then back home keeping my fingers crossed all the way.
Job for tomorrow alternator out and get a new bolt in this time with thread lock on all off them. Just as well I had the socket set allen keys and screw drivers always good to carry just in case I need to carry out any road side repairs!!!!!!!! All done between the showers of rain as well. You have to laugh.
