02M gearbox

Hi all,

I stripped the 02m gearbox from my 1.8T as I plan to fit an 02a for my conversion. Whilst cleaning the gearbox up ready to sell I've knocked this sensor off:$. What's it for? Should I replace it before selling the box? I feel like I should.O_oCheers, Andy.

The box in the pic is not the one I'm selling.

I don't know anything about this gearbox but I would guess its the reversing light switch as that's normally the only sensor/switch on a gearbox. I could be wrong…..

if its 3 pin its speed sensor, if 2 pin its reverse. doubt its reverse mind, thats usually on the shifter housing.

it could be though its part of the 4wd setup, but im pretty sure it'll be your speedo sender.

either way, let the buyer deal with it! if they want an 02m they'll not have a problem forking out the little bit extra for the sender! plus if its a replacement for a bust one they can re-use the old one

if its anything like older type the plastic part will unscrew and you can swap that over. but looking at etka 5 and 6 speed senders differ!
