Standard springs and dampers

I want replace my GTI suspension as it currently has a really harsh boge set up.   I was wondering what dampers and bushes were recommended?  I' d like to restore something more towards original ride height.
Any suggestions?

Really??!! For a GTI? That seems pretty high.
I have seen Sachs gas shocks for a good price at AVS. Do you think it is worth spending almost twice as much on Bilstein ones instead?
