Running 13's
Ok I have asked before and not really had an answer. I've searched not really found an answer.
I know alot of people run 13's with say 50 profile tyres, is it just me who suffers with it majorly running outta steam about 50 mph? Or does everyone just live with it for its cool looks?
Please someone answer the question!!!!! Lol

OK there's a strong reason why you should stick with the circumference originally intended by the manufacturer. So, for me I'd not muck about with 50 series 13s.

I now understand that, but I don't want big tyres
Is there a website I can use to calculate what size the wheel and tyre package will work out at? As much as I don't want to I think I'm gonna have to look into 14's or 15's but this makes me

Do you know why u want 14s or 15s?
Try Googling "Tyre bible" - there is a very good (but very long) guide on wheels and tyres and it will explain why maybe its not such a great idea.

I want a more similar size wheel to original but withlower profile tyres.
My old man is an old porsche kinda guy and won't stop telling me I need bigger tyres, I understand the reasoning behind why but IMO they don't suit my car as well as say 50's or 60's.
I about to put in a mk 2 16v engine and box, so 14's or 15's with lowpros would be alot closer to the original size, right?
Luke.

Second that. 62.92 at an indicated 70.
Im changing to 50 profile and will just have to live with it. Mines a 1.1 as well!
Will be getting a formula 'e' box soon though which should put it back close to original hopefully.

my readings from above are from a road angel
so the road angel says 70 but the speedo reads about 78-80

fair enough but you know any gps device has a resolution of around +-5 mph because of the time it takes for signal to bounce.
not disagreeing with you as i dont know your car i know mine runs around 2800 for 70 on the motorway with standard wheels on.

So how about the other way then, If tyres are 195/50/15" on a 6j rim, speedo shows 100, then whats it really doing??
From reading above, smaller rims = smaller speed, bigger rims must surely = bigger speed difference :dontknow: :dontknow:

not the rim size its the difference in tyre cicumfrence. running 15/50s on a car which ran 13/75s leave you smaller than the original so at 56 you speedo will read 60.
run 15/75s though and at 60 you reading will be 66 mph.
think thats the right way round always get confussed with this.

Yeah, but isnt the /50 a percentage of the width..
Just found this… TYRE SIZE GUIDE
With this it says at 60 my standard tyres of 175/70/13 would show 60, but 195/50/15 will show 60.1 MPH
Worth using that guide, will answer everyones questions…

Simple site i have used for a few years, no apple or java required just enter the tyre size you have and then the size you want, all info is displayed.

This is what I use. Works out your actual speed at an indicated 70 as well.
