replacing rear wheel hub
I need to change one of my rear wheel hubs ready for my MOT as its gone thread bare.
I was just wondering if its a easy job to do or would i be better off getting it done at the garage?
Thanks in advance :O)

Do you mean the stub axle, or the bearings, or the brake drum? All is possible DIY, but you'll need some kind of bearing driver. I bought a proper kit but you can reuse the old bearing shell, I think. Its not too hard so long as you're confident, obviously you're working with brakes etc. All in the Haynes manual too.

basically its the bit that the wheel nut goes into so ive only got 3 nuts holding one of my wheels on atm, and i need the bit that the bolt screws into which i was told was the hub?

Im in the same boat as you having cross threaded two bolts on a single rear wheel!
I believe we need a new drum (as this is what the bolt holds the wheel to) and a new bearing kit (as removing the old drum pulls the old one out). I am opting to get a garage to do both sides, as i can do the basics but i dont fancy 'learning' on my brakes & bearings!

Not to expensive.
