Replacing Inner CV Joint Boots
As I dont have workshop facilities, is it possible that this Boot Replacement can be carried out with the car on jack stands and using simple tools, or is it safer to get a specialist to do this job ? Not too many VW repair shops in Malaysia and I would prefer to do the job myself unless its a major hassle requiring special tools and a lift.
Any advice would be appreciated………. !

I have my drive shaft out now, I have removed the cir-clip and pulled the end off but still the rubber is in-cased inside. How do I remove the rubber gaiter?Lee_dub said
you can do it, but it just means removing the outer CV joint first!

Finally got the new CV Joint from UK and now fitted and running. 12-point bolt sockets rounded out as you indicated and replaced by Allen screws. Had to use heat gun to soften up CV Boot but otherwise no problems. Due to old joint running without boot for some time, it was near bone dry so no problem with grease removal ! Thanks for your advice…
