Rear wheel bolt problem
Closer inspection revealed at the lip of the thread on the drum itself had corroded and crumpled, meaning the bolt wouldn't take up. Tried to cajole it, but no joy.
Current the car is back on it's wheels with only three bolts in place, obviously not ideal! Any tips for sorting those out, or am I going to have to take the drum off itself?
Cheers,
Drew.

think you may need to buy a new set (you should always change in pairs)

Seriously Boss

Looks like the next trip is down to GSF or Euro Car parts . You should be able to replace the lot for under a ?100.

you could take of the drum and wind the bolt through from behind to clear the thread at the front. im sure there would still be plenty of thread to play with.
Might try that for starters!

I tried the take the drum off and wind the bolt in from the other side, worked a treat. Only took about 1/2 hour. Nice one.
I've informed my Mk1 in no uncertain terms that it has had me scrabbling underneath it twice in one week and this is quite enough for 2006!

Guess what, now our 2000 Passat has decided to idle badly… they're all in cahoots these VWs!!!
