pressing out front bearings
How can i do this at home then, ive looked through old post and no ones done a quide. Ive got both hubs off, and the circlips are out. Where do i go from here. seems akward to hold the hub in a vice. Or maybe i should take them to an engineering shop
seriously though id rather do them myself and ive got pleanty of old sockets, a vice and a sledge.

From memory when we did my brothers you hammer out the old bearing which forces it to disintegrate leaving the outer race still stuck in the hub. You then need an ?internal? hub/bearing puller to remove this. This was the tricky bit as there didn?t seem much of a ?lip? for the legs of the puller to grip. When out you can use a large socket to push in the new bearing. Now you have already done all the dismantling and have purchased the bearings I?d find a friendly garage or engineering shop to swap the bearings for a relatively small fee.

alternative to hamering in is to use a bit of studding and 2 large washers and wind it in.

Cheers guys. Went to a VW specialist with the hub, and he pressed out the old one and fitted a new one for a tenner, not bad i supose. Having a few issues doing up the TCA nut now
its all fun with golfs. Should be good for my MOT in the next couple of weeks so wish me luck.
