Newbie Standard Suspension

Hi Everyone

This is my first ever post so please be gentle !

I have a S2 1983 Gti that i am restoring at the moment. Alpine White. 125K Miles. 6 Owners, 4 known personally. Its been mine for 7 Years but now needs attention to get it glowing again.

My question is, should i revert it back to standard shocks & springs, at the moment it runs on Spax adjustables but these are 15 years old, worn out and need replacing. It crashes and bangs around and is really hard. I am wanting something softer that does not fracture my spine at the sight of a cateye ! But still retains a bit of go-kart cornering.

Whats your thoughts and where would i get the standard parts from ?

Thanks for reading

Depending on how original your wanting, either original spec from gsf, boge or Sachs.
Me personally I'd oh with something like this as it doesn't lower by a huge amount, gives a more standard look than coilovers yet still has a sporty feel, only ever heard good things about koni too.
