my mystery g'box

iv got a gearbox here and it has no code on it as its been worn away..im hoping to use it for my 16v conversion but need to know if its going to be any good and i need to know what clutch to get for it…is there any way i can tell what box it is by looking at it? are the splines different for the centre of the clutch? im pretty sure its either a 1.8 or 1.6 gti box..any help would be much appreaciated.

There should be some codes on the dif edge in the ribs ?
