mk1 1.3 starter motor the same as any others?

as said above, im in need of a startermotor for my 1.3 mk1 golf, but i was just wondering if there is any other vw etc that uses the same one?

you can get one from gsf for ?60 and i think thats the cheepest one even if the others do fit

The Polo and the Derby are the same as the 1300cc golf. Out of interest what is wrong with the one thats on the car anyway?

when i turned the key the starter motor just clicked and wouldnt turn..

pop the car into gear let  the hand brake off and rock the car back and forth, sometimes you here a click, if you do, get in the car, take it out off gear and try to start it.if this does not work then you have a problem with your solenoid.
remove the bolt at the back of the solenoid, pull the body away. then pop down to your local tat yard and grab yourself a solenoid, or take the whole starter and get it refurbished, this will cost you far less than a new one.

i have removed it now, how much would it be to have it refurbished?

where i live in wolverhampton i can get one refurbed for about 30quid with
6 months ticket.
