Unbolt driveshaft at gearbox flange (6x M8 12 spline bolts)
Clean up, remove CVJ (you'll need circlip pliers)
Pull off and replace boot

reassembly is a reversal of removal..

sounds so simple but can't get the bolts off the gearbox flange

Tried hex bit in ratchet and tried allen key.
But it either slips or won't spin. Is there an easy way to stop the drive shaft spinning without the wheel on? or do I have to scramble about on the floor

drained all the oil as i thought about popping the driveshaft from the box side but there is a bolt within isn't there??? (someone confirm before i split the casing???)

spent ages on it about to get the sledge hammer out….
help….

oh and some one snapped one of the bolts before i owned it do i start crying now???

think i might have to go get more gas for the blow torch…..

all help gratefully received.

get the bigger hammer. it always makes things better…..

Some cars have female hex head bolts for the inner CVJ (ie its been swapped in the past) but it should be M8 12 spline as stated above. Obviously using the wrong tool, will not help the cause!

If your car is in the air (ie on axle stands) and you need to lock a wheel, put it in gear and put a trolley jack (or something else to jam it to not move) underneath the other side's wheel/tyre.

A good trick is if you have a long breaker bar you can jam this between the brake pedal and the seat, this provides enough brake pressure to stop the shafts turning.
