right so last week my handbrake light wouldn't go off i gave it a few days and then it started going off and working properly then today i pulled the handbrake up and with no real effort and it buckled. i have no idea wot ive done and im not sure if its serious or not. this is how it looks. please any help would be much appreciated.

It does at first glance but a closer look shows that the little 'bar' which the 2 cables goes through, is no longer in place on the handbrake lever. It looks like the little tab which keeps it in place, has bent downwards in a random way. It should be possible to bend this back. What caused it to originally bend and set the bar free from the lever, is another thing…..??

cables definatley not snapped its stiff as anything. i got the bracket back on the lever but its really stiff you cant pull it to the first click so i took it back off and im jst leaving it in gear so it doesnt roll away over night.

Could be seized then - hence why it bent the tab in the first place. You're going to have to remove the rear drum to unhook it anyway, so once you've done that you're half way towards finding whether its the cable itself, or the lever within the rear drum.
