Gearbox oil capacity
Can someone confirm that all MK1 5-speed gearboxes have an oil capacity of 2 litres, inc later ones like cabbys and Caddys?

I know mk1 7G and Mk2 020 boxes have a 2L oil capacity, So I cannot see any reason why the cabby/caddy gearboxes would be any bigger.
You can always fill it from the speedo cable and remove the side allen plug on the box until it comes out, thats if you need to.

Only about 1.3 litres came out, but it was clean looking and not ?metallic?. I?ve changed the gearbox oil in Land Rovers and it?s not only ?metallic? but I?ve actually had cog teeth come out as well. 8O
It did have a small leak from the green metal end plate/disc. I've replace it and put in 2 litres of semi synthetic 75w/90, and will keep an eye on the (hopefully cured) leak.
Another job to tick off the list of things to do…….
