Gear linkage
I've just fitted a bush kit (bought from GSF on E-bay).Although the gears feel better it's still not 100 percent.(still getting reverse instead of 1st)I did not get the largest bush (the one at the end of the main selector rod - i think it should be the red one).Does anyone know where i can buy this seperately?

Like Shughy said mate, the teeth and spline need to be in the right place at the bulkhead therefore, you have a 19mm gap (I think it's 19mm) under the gearstick between the selector rod and the metal bracket under the car. There is a gear linkage guide HERE mate.

What they said.
Can also get someone in the car and make adjusts until its right. Thats how i did mine. Still not great but thats not due to worn bushes or alignment etc

I got my repair kit from here:

An absolute bargain at less than £16 for 33 repair pieces, great quality too !!

Thanks guys, yes i used the guide on here (very impressive),and set the 19mm clearance.I think it just needs a little tweak so i'll follow your advice and get someone to check it from in the car.I asked gsf about the missing bush and they said find the vw part number and they will source it.I might as well go to VW myself!.I just got unlucky i thinlk and bought a poor kit.

That one above seems like a great kit. Worth buying and keep the rest as spares

If you've got a 5 speed box the gap should be 15mm according to my book.
