Clutch Judder & Slip

Had a new clutch fitted just before Christmas. Have recently noticed a bit of a judder (only minor) when the clutch fully engages but only seems to do it in first / when pulling away.

Also when giving it some beans, if I slightly overrev between shifts the clutch slips quite badly, sometimes all the way to the limiter - a short shift usually sorts it but this is from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th so it's definitely not wheel spin!

Have tried adjusting the cable so there is loads of slack in the pedal but same problem. Now, is it down to dodgy fitting or have the oil seals gone and p****d oil over the pressure plate?

The only thing I could add is I had exactly the same symptoms as you a few years ago and it was due to oil on the pressure plate.  Cant remember what caused it tho, sorry, but an oil seal seems plausible.

Kind of what I feared as they replaced the oil when they replaced the clutch. Think they may have overfilled it slightly as there is some leaking from somewhere under the car - hard to tell where from exactly though. Guess that has put too much strain on the 26 year old seals…

Guess that means another new clutch AFTER replacing all the relevant seals. How many are there? They have 3 listed at ecp…

I think (but dont quote me, been ages since i've had to go in there) there are two.  Vw should be able to supply you with a seal kit for your gearbox.  If the oil looks like it is dripping from the lowest point of the bellhousing, it's likely to be oil on the pressure plate.

same thing happened to me   found it was the engine crank seal that leaked onto pressure plate
Tip! When you put new seal in start engine and check new seal doesn't leak before you put gearbox back in,you don't know how long seal been on shelf,i learned the hard way!
