Clevis pin

Do many of you have trouble with the clevis pin? Im changing the master cylinder and servo and the clevis pin simply wont go on. The ball joint type thing on the linkage wont allow it on as its wider than the clevis pin, would stretching it a bit cause a problem?

No thats of no help, but thanks anyway. The old clevis pin is on the servo but It wont go on the linkage itself. The little ball joint is too wide and stops it from going on...

is this an upgrade to mk2 you're doing? when i removed the old clevis pin from the mk1 servo i did managed to squish./bend it a little because it was so damn tight, so it needed a little massaging to get it back into shape

Yes im upgrading the master cylinder and servo. I have tried 2 clevis pins and theyre both the same. Im going to try bending it out a bit but it just doesnt seem right. Any ideas? Did anyone else have the same problem?

can we get pics of the item, do you not have the old mk1 clevis pin? you're supposed to swap that over to the new servo. if this is what you have done then i cant work out why it wont fit back on!

The servo came with a clevis pin which looks exactly the same as the original clevis pin. Ive tried them both and it just doesnt want to go on!

I think we need pics of the problem, i cant think of any reason why suddenly the original clevis pin doesnt fit anymore?

Here is the problem. The little silver ball joint is too wide and wont allow me to get the clevis pin on.

ah ok, just a case of open the clevis pin slightly till you can slide it over. these are a tight fit

That simple? I was worried it might be too loose if I did that. Cheers mate.

squeeze it again if its a bit loose, but the pin once fitted should sort you out. up/down play isnt a problem really its just side to side play you'll feel in the pedal

Nice one Jonny. Do you know if the pin and clip are available from anywhere? Its now obsolete from vw.

the clip is available from vw classic parts, but the pin isnt I'm afraid
