bad vibration while driving

Hi everyone I need abit of help.

My cars vibrating quite badly while driving, does it all the time but seems to be worse when turning left, Its not knocking at slow speed its more at 30mph and above. Ive had all the wheels checked for balancing and there all spot on.

I've recently had new cv boots put on it as the o/s boot coming out the the diff had split and been loosing grease, the breaing inside there looked ok, no play in it. Could this bearing be the issue even though it looked ok, as im presuming it had been running dry due to loosing grease??

If i dip the clutch it dosent make a diffrence either theres kind of like a whering noise.

If not, can anyone think of anything else it could be?

Check the wheels not buckled

Nah wheels are fine had them all checked and made sure they were balanced and stuff.

I can only think its the bearing on the O/S driveshaft where it comes out of the diff  :dontknow:

Anyone else have any ideas?

are you wheel nuts tight???? could be that dout it thoe

sound like a drive shaft (cv) joint gone.

Try it round corners and listen to which side is worse, lock to lock. (pref a car park)

Right after some investigation and a trip to a garage there dosent seem to be any play in any joints or bearing anywhere?!

It has now started knocking as i drive along, the faster i go the faster the knocking, dosent make a diffrence if im going in a stright line or around corners, slow or fast.

I have been advised it could be the diff or gearbox, this could explain the knocking, BUT would that explain the vibration im getting through the steering wheel?

Any ideas? Im stuck with this one!

Wheel nuts are tight
Wheels have been balanced and re-balanced to double check
No play in any joing or bearings.

Help would be much appreciated!

I had this, a small weight used to balance the back wheel was catching on a tube on the back axle. Took me ages to figure it out!!

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing here - Im getting serious vibrations throught the steering wheel from the front end and a bad knocking sounds as I'm driving along, its virbates the whole front end.

I need to know weather this could be caused by the gearbox or diff as all the joints and bearing thats have been checked all seem fine. Wheel nuts are tight and wheels are balanced corrctly, plus suspension struts all seem tight with no movement in them

Could be the diff. The crown wheel is held on by rivets which can break and eventually machine themselves through the diff casing.
If you jack up both fronts and spin the wheels in neutral do you hear anything. Or run it in gear while on axle stands to see if you can hear anything. Bear in mind that the angle of your driveshafts maybe different whilst on jacks which could make any shaft noises disappear.

i had a problem with my van vibrating when the brake caliper was sticking on and heating the disc so much it was warping. it made the disc very dark and blue. touch your discs after a short drive if there really hot then it could be this. if your pads are moving about it could make a knocking noise

or also i put some old tyres on to get to the mot station and they had delaminated inside and it felt like driving on cobble stones.
