A month after the last, and within 2 minutes we cross-post more or less the same idea………..
A couple of us are going to Oulton Park on Saturday 7th Feb. Now, I'm not expecting all the regular Chester/North Wales guys to want to commit to getting there 7:30am, paying ?125 and caning their cars around the track, but how about a 'meet' where people can come along to the paddock area and watch the action for maybe an hour or two?
Last time I was there, there was a pretty relaxed atmosphere, yes it was busy but also there was no regimented "be there now, you're allowed here, you're not allowed here" (except for the obvious, cars on track or queueing in the pit lane entry). So it would be possible for everyone to come along - paddock area will be freely accessible, and so will the pit lane area, and no passes are required - and see a bit of the action.
Also it should be possible (would need to clarify safety briefing and cost to be a passenger) to give people a 'ride' around the track as a passenger. Alonzo and I are going, I am happy enough to give a few passenger rides. We'd need to somehow sort out helmet tho, you'd need one for the track.
Any thoughts?

I'll come along to watch for sure, it's whether others are free on a Saturday or want to watch racing.
Opinions/ideas/suggestions keep em coming

Been once, a couple of years ago, no plans to go again. Not the best show of the calendar, really.

I'll be going 8) , not the best show going for mk1 Golfs, but love the atmosphere and good to be somewhere with loads of dubnuts :y:
So everyone alright with a run out to Oulton Park? I know a few people have cars off the road at the moment, so happy to wait for a warmer month for a roadtrip, unless anyone feels compelled to suggest a good un
Dell, are you taxing yours at the beginning or end of March?

I might be going Dubfreeze as I'm going to NEC the day before and might be staying overnight around Stafford (if I can find somewhere fairly cheap).
Not taxing the Mk1 until 1 March - just searching for insurance too

Dell, you should get a good quote from Footman James or Carol Nash
So the meet is set as Oulton Park on Saturday February 7th, hopefully catch some of you in the pits :y:
Anyone else thinking of popping down, see you there or catch you at Dubfreeze

I haven't been there before either, yet it's only 40 minutes away for me………you never truly appreciate things when they're on your doorstep

Yes very true, it must be about an hour for me.. I'm only going as a spectator, there's no way I'm going to race my golf there lol.

Are trackdays a case of testing yours and the cars capabilities
Can you go as fast as you want, as long as your not endangering others on the track?
I'm not racing, just spectating
Dazzle, I'm back on track with what day it is, it was quite nice to know the weekend is one day closer than I thought
