Buxton meet, 24th feb, PICS PAGE 23 AND ON
Right guys!
There's been talk of the new West Yorks lot meeting up with the Wrexham and Chester lot!
Buxton seems to be flavour of the week, it seems to be pretty much central to a lot of regions (NWM, W.Yorks, Wrexham & Chester, Derbyshire), and a lovely area to boot!
Would be nice to get a few areas together.
I think we're looking at around the end of February, maybe Sunday 24th (nearly put or Feb 31st
)
To keep our Ash happy, maybe around 1 or 2pm at the Arches in Buxton, then up Errwood to the Cat and Fiddle for some nosh and a few bevvies?
Don't be shy people
all Mk1's welcome, obviously!

Buxton sounds good but gammy lives in Telford so as long as he get a good road to put his foot down on he's a happy chappy!!!
I was thinking Manchester is right bang slap in the middle of us all so why not there?? Good size car park and some food/Drink should suit all?
But there plenty of time to discuss!

The problem is the centralised spot on a map - Manchester or possibly Preston Brook - has been tried before and nothing came of it. So I'm happy enough to step aside and let others sort something out.

i be but a simple country lad, with no affairs for big cities. them folk up them there big towns with there fancy flats and haircuts, well, they're just different. to be honest, i'm a little bit scared!!!
what about meeting somewhere in or around marple & new mills area, then going for a cruise down past fernilee and errwood reservoir (theres a one way single track road up past errwood thats just lovely to drive up.
we could call at the windyest pub in the peaks, the cat and fiddle (not sure of its facilites tho, it does have a big-ish car park.)
then either loop round via buxton (probably busy with sunday shoppers) or loop round west, find a pub somewhere if the cat and fiddle is abit naff.
just ideas…

I dont mind the run out from Telford, it's 50 miles from Chester to Buxton, and that's by either A roads or motorway. I only suggested Buxton as I realised the proper halfway mark would drop us in the middle of Manchester with not much scenery to enjoy, thought if we went East from Chester and the Yorkies go South it's all glorious scenery….so I believe.
Let's keep up the dialogue and see where it we end up :y:

I'm all for a bit of green(ery). :?
Not one for city centre meets, get enough of that through the week and it's a bit chavvy really.
Nice drive through some country sounds nice.

Buxton sounds good to me and Guess what from my house to Buxton is 47 miles so that's close to the average of 50 miles we would all have to travel and NOT TO FAR I bought my car to drive it not to tootle to the shops and back…

Just been doing the measuring using Auto route all be it in a straight line
the distance Buxton is in miles to the following towns
Chester = 43
Leeds = 43
Nottingham = 38
Blackburn = 39
Telford = 46
Liverpool = 45
Wrexham = 48
Now call me old fashioned but it seems Quite central to me?
and a lovely part of the world to boot.

either that or the knutsford services between the m6 and the m56 near tatton park (north west volkswagen show) which isn't to far off being in the middle? lots of nice roads to drive down and a truck stop for bacon buttys. or rochdale maybe.
paul if i'm any closer (Warrington) you can come to mine and jump in with me if you don't mind riding a green skip.

I believe Buxton is sounding the best bet with the cat n fiddle being the point for the meet! it would be a good run there and we would give the bikers a good run for there money!

definately sounds good to me.
tho as the cat and fiddle is at the end of the one way drive past errwood reservoir, i think we should maybe meet up somewhere first.
buxton itself is a little nightmare of mini roundabouts and sunday shoppers. there is a decent size car park at the bottom end of town, not sure how busy it is on a sunday.
i suppose we could meet at the cat and fiddle, then loop round buxton, errwood and back to the cat?
