There's a driving route that I want to try out and then take us all on.
It was in Practical Classics as one of the great driving routes in the north (no, not the Snake Pass!!) more northern.
Would that be interesting? I can't recall the details off the top of my head, road number wise but it takes in a bit of north Lancs, Cumbria and back down the motorway. Pub lunch half way round.

The route is along the A686
Preston to Penrith 74 miles (1.16hrs) leave at j40
Penrith to Haydon Bridge 38 miles (56 mins) A686 with view of Scotland 1900ft above sea level
Haydon Bridge to Carlisle 31 miles (45 mins) A69 dual carriageway
Carlisle to Preston 89 miles (1.43hrs) motorway
Total 232 miles - 4.5hrs driving time.
For a full day out as a driving club this route is highly recommended apparently. I was going to drive it first to check it out before suggesting it to members.

good bump mark . not sure how i'd not seen this one.. I know the route dano is on about (over Alston)
I'd sometimes drive over to newcastle that way when working there..
although a Roses meet i would expect a meet round skipton way????
we are in, wherever it is. depending on dates..

Saturday 29th October fits in good with me, we need to organise a point of meet /venue, the pub on the road near the dam next to the M62 sounds like a good venue what do others think? :dontknow: (And its in Yorkshire! so lets see some "white rose members" to back up "littlerolf" and "carling" )
