Right, as I'm the newly appointed regional hosts manager, I thought it'd be a good idea to introduce myself and find out what's been going on.
First up is the list of regions and regional hosts. If you could confirm you are still the regional host of said region that'd be great. If you aren't, still let me know as we can then appoint the position to someone else (of which must be a paid member). Also in your reply I'd be truly grateful if you could answer these questions so I have a basic idea of what you're all up to etc.
1. What is the average number of people that attend the meet?
2. How often do you hold the meet?
3. How often do you have new members join?
4. Do you regularly attend shows as a region? If so, which ones?
5. Anything else you'd like me to know?
Berkshire - beardy & kandg120
Cambridgeshire - caddyrage
Cornwall - borednow & kamikaze cabby
Cov & Warks - Ginner
Herts, Beds & Bucks - ant5
Ireland - Shughy
Kent - Available
Leicester, Derby & Notts - Red-or-Dead
Leicester/East Midlands - Mits530
Lincolnshire - Gordonthegolfer & Hairyarse
London - SANJP
Midlands - ans4r
North East - project1
North West - Dano
Northumberland - Available
Scotland - Available
South Wales - Available
South West - richyhill
Staffordshire - lhasadreams
Sussex - JayCaddy
There doesn't seem to be a regional host for Scotland. Any ideas why?
Bold = confirmed

Settling In
Hi afternoon,
Yes I still host the Leicestershire/East Midlands region meet held on the 1st Wednesday of every month, during the Winter season it is held at the Owl & Pussycat Pub on Melton Road, Leicester, LE4 from 7.30pm onwards.
To date we have approx 18 members and have been giving out the Mk1 owner club flyers for new potentials to join. We do regular shows/events and covered a wide variety this year and hoping to do the same again for the new season.
If I can help with any other questions please do not hesitate to contact me on 07970 034 891.
Regards,
Mits

There is no Scottish host and I wouldn't think there will be.
It's a very large geographical region to organise.
I've moved away from mk1's but still remain a paid member.
I now run a Retro VW Group on FB which opens things up to 80's and 90's Vws.

Hey Hun
arf333 stepped down as Southwest Regional Host a while ago, although still helps me out which is great. Me and him were doing it together for a while, so at the mo its just me as RH for the Southwest.
Southwales I am not sure if @FunnyUsername is the RH, but I know some of the Welsh boys that came to Bristol Volksfest this year on the stand were definitely interested in trying to get things going over there. I tried to do both for a while, a while back when taffygoat stepped down, but its too much geography with Southwest as well
Answers to the below
1. What is the average number of people that attend the meet? We now run a meet first Friday of every month in Bristol called "Bristol Dub Love" we have not kept it Mk1 specific as it originally started as a combined Mk1 and Mk2 Golf owners club meet, which has now progressed into all things VAG really, I am hoping to generate more Mk1 in numbers next year but in general each month we see anything from 10-30 vehicles per meet.
2. How often do you hold the meet? As above, once a month, the first Friday of every month
3. How often do you have new members join? In truth I don't keep count, I get the notification when people join the southwest and south wales I think, and would like to PM them to welcome them each time, but just struggle for the time. I try and pick them out in the newbies section :-) or hope they find the Southwest regional section
4. Do you regularly attend shows as a region? If so, which ones? Yes we try to. Next year my plan is to do around 6 shows as "the Southwest Region". These are most likely to be: 1) Bristol Volksfest, 2) Cruise to the prom (Weston super mare), 3) Berkley Castle (Berkley Gloucester), 4) Mk1 Golf AGM, 5) Malvern Classic Car Show, 6) Wales Volksfest, although we do try and do a few other random small ones. - Bristol Volksfest is our biggest and a mad weekend, we always get around 30 Mk1 Golfs there over the weekend, a big amount camping, and a good range of people coming from not only the southwest but also other regions
5. Anything else you'd like me to know? We like Cider, Cheese and the Wurzles ! and talk with a carrot crunchers accent
Is there any chance of the CLUB PROVIDING us and event shelter?
We support and represent the club wherever we can, and have out of our own money bought 2 x gazebo's which have unfortunately lasted us a good few years but now been killed off at shows due to strong winds etc, if we could get a white event shelter with the Mk1 Golf OC logo on it, that would be a big help, also ideally 1 more large black flag and wheel stand.
Welcome to the role Moo and great to have you on board
Cheers
Rich

I stepped down from regional host a little while ago, now Andy
beardy
& Gavin
kandg120
are running the show. I'm just a consultant now 😄
The region has been running 10 years & they meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the jolly gardener in Holyport SL6 2ND where on average there is 6-10 mk1's with a few others. The biggest meet had 19 mk1's.
The show the region goes to are Dubs at the Park in Bracknell which gets the biggest turnout from the region, Stonor Park, Westside, AGM & this year they went to forge action day & on the London cruises.
will post some pic later.

Amanda - congrats on the new position…
I am currently the host for the Ireland region. I have posted up in our sub forum to see if anyone wants to take it from me so will keep you updated.
Our meets are generally at shows namely Dubshed, Limerick, Mullingar, Fermoy and our annual Ireland Trip first week in September. We have other shows where members link and display. Due to the size of the region it can be hard to meet at a central point.
Our biggest meet at Limerick 2013 had 65 Mk1's present.

Regional hosts - I need you!
Hi Amanda,
I am still the Staffordshire Host but have not run any meet ups this year at all - really bad on my part and I intend to get it kicked off again.
My co-host is Anna, who helps run the meets around Derby as well.
We use to have Sunday curry evenings and meet about once a month in summer. The last meets were near Lichfield at a pub in a Sunday, with Sunday lunch.
The meet up usually attracted the Midlands lot run by Ansar as well and we saw as many as 20 people and 12 cars.
The Midlands and Staffordshire tend to lump together at shows.
I cannot arrange anything for weekday evenings due to my job commitments.
I plan to arrange a Christmas curry meet up :-)
Beany1234 has recently started up weeknight meet in the Midlands as well - still not managed to make it yet though !!
