Wilkos gti caddy

Well way back in august I bought a mk1 caddy. On the face of it it looked ok needed some work but nothing to major, £700 and what I thought was a bargain.

How wrong was I started to strip it and the horror show began. Inner wings were shot, outer wings shot, floor, sills you name it there was rot.

So what do you do scrap it and take a loss or keep it and spend a fortune. Well me being me I tucked it away in the back garden and left it. After a couple months I get a call off a mate who had seen a caddy heading for scrap. So I took a look and hardly any rot. Paid £400 for now for the downside it had been registered scrap I couldn’t believe it.

So off came the metal work to rebuild mine.

Then came covid and no work and instead of moaning about I saw it as an opportunity to crack on got metal work finished. Sanded primed and painted, ok the finish isn’t going to win anything but at least I tried and learnt a lot for next time

Still a lot todo but keeps my cabby company now

Not great really orange peely but no runs passenger door came out better. But not too fussed as it can be redone in a few years. Main object was to get it on road

Nice, good job mate. Similar color to  Gambia red but this looks like a more metallic finish . What’s the paint code?

Chrome waist trim turned up tonight so set about fitting it. I personally like it and happy especially knowing I have done all the work on the caddy myself. How ever the mrs isn’t sure but hey what does she know lol

Next apart from fitting the wheels will be the body kit and axle flip
