I know how it's going to look but can't describe it
Any love for 2 wheels on here?
Decided that sports bikes are now behind me (or above me, see avatar) so set about building something slower but nice sounding and generally different
Picked up this low mileage but rough 1999 Daytona 995i last August for less than £900.
It came with all the original plastics and carbon race can and original clip on handlebars which I planned to keep
She wasn't pretty and was going to get worse before she got better but this is my 3rd Daytona and my 4th 955i engined Triumph so I'm hoping it's within my capabilties
By the time I removed all the bits I didn't want and sold the spares it owed me just under £500 so not an expensive project.
Plan was the following:
Clip on race bars
Single large headlight
Short exhaust and wrapped system
Custom subframe and seat unit
Knobbly Road tyres
Powdercoat black frame, swingarm etc
Current rides:
2003 BMW 330d Manual Saloon Msport
1985 GTI cabriolet black edition (42k miles)

Managed to pick up a near new pair of Continental TKC80's in exactly the size needed
Next was to scrap the flat bar conversion (and sell for a tidy sum) before fitting the original bars, new 7" headlight with yellow lense and grille and billet brake fluid reservoir (not fitted in photo)
After 2 other purchases that didn't work out I settled on this duel tone laser exhaust and removed the rest of the system and wrapped it. These 3 cylinder engines sound beautiful and like nothing else on the road

Its going to sit about 3 inches taller at the back than before but being 6'2" that's not an issue and it means the numberplate can be mounted underneath in front of the back wheel
All the rear lights and indicators will be housed as LEDs in the rear frame itself

Time to get it ready to send to the fabricators for the rear subframe
Removed the full loom and with the help of a label printer marked everything up, coolant system off and lump out
And its off to the fabricators, hard to believe but this is progress
And this is last I saw of it, the subframe has been mocked up and looks brilliant.
I left it with the to continue with making an alloy undertray, side panels and battery tray
Unfortunately a little thing called Covid19 got in the way and I haven't seen the bike in a couple of months
When it comes home I need to break it all down and send the frame, subframe, swingarm and folk yolks off for blasting and powdercoat in gloss black.
The undertray, side panels, handlebars, foot pegs will all go satin black before rebuilding it all up with new headstock, swing arm and wheel bearings.
New chain and sprockets with lower gearing and refurb the wheels,
All that's left then is to seal the tank internally and choose a colour for it
The project is a long way off being finished but when it's done I have the perfect crash helmet to complete the look

I like the build, coming on, not sure on the tyres but each to there own… fine for getting away from the copper up the side track roads.
Hardly done any miles with the bikes this year.. think about 600 or so compared to the usual 3000 average. I will have forgot what side the throttle is on by next year.
Nice work. 👍🏼
