Feel my pain...
I bought it looking like this, rattle can, filler, rust with a rainwater gloss. I'm the third owner and it's spent the last 7 years sitting in a barn.

and it currently looks like this after attacking with the spanners and a wire brush on the end of a drill. I've taken the sliding rear screen out for safe keeping and put the original plastic one in, wings have also been taken off, then put back on as I haven't got anywhere to store them

Plans now include, replace the front panel (on it's way from ebay land), replace the outer rear (panel in the bedroom), new scuttle and a pillars hopefully will be sorted in a bit. I'm not sure what can be done with the internal back panel as no-one makes a replacement so it may be a case of see what can be done with bits of flat plate.
When it's solid, it'll be painted flat black, (hopefully) MoT'd and then I want to run it for a bit.
Short term plans include fit the webber I've got for, find and fit a gt1 cam and manifold and see what that does. More long term, I want to replace the bed and sort out the body so it's all nice and smooth and shiny, then maybe change the wheels.
I'm not looking for show winner, just something that's nice, solid and usable

Sounds like a plan………I saw a hills for sale recently

Looks like the front screens been leaking for a while eek! Still solid under the rust along the dash?
Love the fact that you're storing stuff in the bedroom 😅 ain't gone quite that far yet…..dining room, living room, office and spare room but not our bedroom yet.

Can I come and have a look to see if I can use them?sporttrucker said
pillars were not great and had a bit of rust in the corner but could be useful for repairing around the screen. been sitting outside for a while so probably looks a bit worse now
Oh, and a new (to me) front panel has arrived… not many parts needed now, then the fun can begin !!

Then

and then

which ended up as

6 hours later it looks like

Nice and shiny front end, seems like a shame to paint it matt black !
The bonnet / front is square (checked then checked again) it's just the bonnet isn't all the way down as the catch needs a bit of adjustment
Plans for tomorrow include fit the back panel, do the internal rear panel, go round filling all the other holes, take a few photos, sweep up all the bits of rust (again) and have a beer or 2

We had to remove the lot to the tops of the 'indentations' but unfortunately the replacement panel didn't go that far so I now have a join - the eagle eyed among you will have spotted another (new) rusty hole

And from the inside, we had to replace the whole width so I have lost the small ridges, but meh ! You can see what's left of the old front panel in the back, it could never have been saved as it was like a tea bag.

New plans for the weekend include filling all of the little holes that we've found, grinding all of the welds down, etch prime and seam seal then a quick top coat (or 4), then all that's left is to put it back together, easy…
What I could do with are some photos of the internal rear panel that have been covered because I want to sound deaden it, then cover so I need ideas as to how far to go up. Also recommendations on decent sound deadening

I was going to just fill as much of it as I can with lots of cavity wax and hope or is there something else? Probably should have thought about this earlier…

I've also painted the inside of the cab, but no pictures as it's just the inside painted black, not too interesting, but it matches every other nice new and the old bits of metal. I've also used a tin of dynax S50 on all the cavities and found a couple of seams I hadn't sealed so now there are nice big waxy streaks down the back panel and a puddle of wax on the floor, ho hum…
I also decided to replace the aerial and as the passenger side wing had a blob of filler underneath, I've knocked that out. Fairly easy, except there was about 3mm of filler on the top of the wing, so small hole from the underneath, huge crater on top. I'll add it to the list.
Tomorrow, I'm going to try to get the dash back in if I can remember how it came out (fingers crossed)
Edit - Looking like that, it needs some smoked crosshair headlights, anyone got any spare that they'd like to donate ??

Anyway, dash in (needs a bit more of a clean)

Started on the sound deadening, going to do the back panel and from floor to underside of the dash

It also starts and runs… but heater doesn't work at all (hoping it's a fuse) and I've broke my new interior light

Should it have a drain hole in the corner (I think the other corner has one) ??

No drain holes along the windscreen area, well there is no holes along my Mk1 cabriolet.

Ignore the rusty bits, they have now been painted.

Don't have a picture of passengers side but it's the same as drivers side.
