84 scirocco gtx

Got a 84 scirocco its in black with the factory fitted kamei kit last week for the bargain price of 300 quid. It was a 1 owner car from new and he said he went through a puddle one day and refused to start since. It was then stood for 4 years, I got it home sprayed some easy start down the intake and it fired right up turned out fuel pump is goosed so ive taken tank out to flush and clean up before fitting my spare pump also filler pipe was rotton so modified a mk1 golf one to fit. I post some pics up in a bit. 

Always liked the GTX, still have a couple of the Brochures when I was dreaming of buying one new.  Didn't come accross many black ones, most were blue or silver/grey from what I remember. Do you still have the Snowflake wheels?  They later fitted Pirelli P's but didn't think they looked as good.

Its got 13inch tarantulas on it think the avus snowflakes came just after 84. Always wanted a scirocco in black didn't think id get one for that type of money.

Pretty sure the  GTX  started off with the Avus snow flakes, does yours have the factory black bodykits that all the later MkII Sciroccos had, or could it be a GTI if it's on 13 inch and a different body kit.  The GTX also came with the grey seat material from the Mk2 Golf GTI, with silver or silver/red stripes accross the seats.  Love to see some pictures.



 

I really want to see this in the flesh so to speak because I used to sell them back then and had one as a demo!

I have trouble uploading pics to photobucket using phone il send them using pc when I get a sec. It has a kamei kit fitted which is what got fitted to early gtx roccos not the later kit it has also got grey seats with a grey tartan centers its a strange one as it has the twin wipers and larger fuel tank plus split folding seats but has the earlier hatch on the back with the smaller spoiler its also got the storm type steering wheel, headlight washers and tilt and slide sunroof.

That's a real hybrid you have there!  Looks like an early model rather than the 'facelift' one, but lots of bits added to it.  From the picture you have at the moment looks an amazing buy for what you paid for it.  I think the kamei kit might have been a dealer option, can't remember a GTX version of the earlier  car, just the GTI AND GT, so if the V5 says GTX then could be a rare car - no doubt golfcabrio  will be able to throw some light on it.

Yeah its a gtx on logbook just checked also its an 85 not 84 as it was registered in january 85 so think its an 84 car with added later options maybe. Il take some more pics when its stopped raining I uploaded that pic with phone as a tester to see if it works as my internet is down at min.

Just fiund this on the net, not quite sure what language its in but it seems to mention an 84 version with a Kamei spoiler.

Yeah nearly everything ive looked at seems to be in foreign language lol. Apparently 9047 were fitted with the kamei kit as standard as an anniversary edition and most of them were sold in germany. Going to get hold of the guy I bought it from and see if he can shed some light as he bought it from new.

To be honest I don't recall ever seeing one back then, I think if I had I'd remember something like that which is unusual. 

I have seen one other but that's here in Austria.
