Hi from Poland.
Some time ago I thought that I was finished my story with tuning, and a few engineering-racing years will be enough for the rest of my life, but I was wrong, so I would like to introduce you to my extremely long-term project of a road racing VW Golf. Long-term because due to the permanent lack of time I work episodically on it.
The decision about the character of the car is not final either and it may turn out to be completely trackday.
Basically, I'm not in a hurry, the finances "are what they are", and the design phase makes me so much pleasure that I do not have any pressure on any car trip.
Above you can read a rough plan for a car; the small part (from the purchasing/manufacturing side) is more or less realized.
VW Golf I was looking for a few months and I was finally able to find some good condition one in Croatia.

Also very encouraging seeing the words Raychem and Deutsch already! Always know it'll be a good thread when there's some proper Motorsport wiring involved.

Loving the engineering behind this - what 3D scanner setup are you using? Always love seeing some CAD on the first page of a thread.

A lot of projects has excellent mechanical stuff and beautiful engineering ideas, but without proper wiring… I hope I will not let you down.

In the meantime, the concept of a overbore also changed slightly, which is why the current 84.00mm pistons from BMW are for sale:

From the beginning of project, I planned to change the bumpers to narrow ones. So I considered buying aluminum replicas or "spend to much" on original set. However, original set and even replicas doesn't fit the concept of the car and I could make up my mind to buy any. Previous race car (and in fact), the first contact with carbon as a construction material, gave me some admiration and respect for this material because it allowed us to massively reduce the mass of car.
So I followed into instinct when I saw them. Ordered in December, they arrived yesterday, so it took a while, (no tproducer fault - there will be two more details that have not been available in his offer yet) but happily most of them I received before Brexit (

Full of carbon, made in pre-preg technology.
What's more, the new Hella indicator lights and I think that's what I meant when it comes to "smuggling" motorsport into the street in this case.

The OEM oil breather will be replaced with the catch tank, but for this I need a blank plate with Wiggins ferrule.

![](https://i.postimg.cc/zfqX8YXL/20190709-175125.jpg)
And the full kit If someone wants. 25 grams of total weight reduction vs OEM breather.
It can be any another fitting (not only for Wiggins clamp)

Good job on the blanking plate - really cool to see someone using Wiggins connectors!
Would you be happy to share the CAD file?

Send me PM - your email address and what parts do you need.
Next detal, next weight reduction - 617 grams of distributor vs 85 grams of distributor blank plate.

I am very sorry but I think it is not a good idea to spoil the CAE project/business by distributing this project because it's very close to the original.wadeenie said

Fair enough, i have already modelled up a CAE copy i just wanted to compare designs.
Anyway good luck with the build

While searching, I found mk1 with handles from Porsche 944 turbo.
I like details, and these door handles are quite rare, that's why I decided to have such a set.
AI bought also some stuff from the service and they're waiting for regeneration, which won't be that easy.

However, I do not know if they will be use in the car, because I belong to people who have already convinced that the fight for every gram is important, so in this project I will also pay attention to it.
For these parts, the weight balance is definitely unfavorable.
