Hayabusa turbo project
I'm not usually one for forums but I thought this may interest some of you?! For the past year I've been building my Mk1 golf which we have converted to take a Hayabusa engine FWD. Its been slow progress at times due to other customers cars/engines having to come first but recently we have made some big progress so i thought id share a few pictures with you.
My plan is to have the car up and running for early spring so i can hopefully attend a few shows/events next year. Below is a rough outline of the spec of the car…..
- Original car was a mk1 golf 1.1, it was fully rebuilt by a friend of mine from the bare shell up so all credit to him as he stripped it and fitted all the cage etc, i have then purchased the car from him and carried out the engine transplant and running gear etc.
- Engine, 1500cc Hayabusa turbo built by myself at RLM Racing. Arrow steel rods and crank, JE pistons, gasflowed head, reprofiled cam shafts, close ratio gearbox, one of custom input shaft, hi flow oil pump gear, 1/2"head studs, heavy duty cam chain kit, low line sump pan, billet lock up clutch
- Zcars custom front frame work
- Borgwarner 7163 Vband turbo unit
- Billet plenum chamber
- ATL fuell cell
- Bosch 044 fuel pump with lift pump and swirl pot
- Quaife reverse drive unit with limited slip diff
- Custom drive shafts
- 660cc injectors
- Jenvey Throttle bodies with drive by wire
- MBE management
- Traction control
- Launch control
- Anti Lag
- JAC exhaust system exiting through the front passenger wing(only route out due to drive box placement)
- Berg Arches with ET0 offset wheels
- Rear disk conversion
- Bias Pedal Box
- Custom Dash board fitted with Aim Dash and smarty Cam

I hypothetically thought about a busa conversion at one time and got confused about drive shaft/ sprocket connection. How do the shafts connect to the box? I see they're custom but what is on the gearbox end? Glad you put your awesome work up

The output shaft from the engine is connected to a quiafe drive box/diff which the drive shafts then connect to. the picture below shows it a little better…..

What do you think? I've also added a picture of the new wheels….still not sure but I'm certainly going to need the wider track to try and attempt to put any of this power down!
