Hey Everyone
I am fairly new to this forum so i'll introduce myself again my name is Jack and i have just purchased this very early series 2 Mk1 golf GLS which missed out on being a series 1 by just 60 days which is rather remarkable but it was owned by a old man here on the Isle Of Wight and i have bought it to restore it!
i am no rooky to the world of Volkswagen's having owned 4 other Mk1's i live, eat, and breath these retro icons and with no further ado here is the latest.
Here she is the day i picked it up. ( the previous owner had tried to make it 'cool' by lowering it 40mm and putting some snowflakes on )
I got her back to the workshop and immediately got to work on a clean up.
bumpers off!
non genuine wings off!
unfortunately i didn't take Before & After shots of the engine bay cf_emoticons__BangHead: but i did spray everything over several times with degreaser to remove 32 years of grime!
more progress to come and more pics of the absolutely immaculate un molested interior

the workshop is actually an old storage cave that was used by a nearby train station which is no longer in use!
as soon as i get some time off work i'll be giving the car some more love. will update as soon as i can

Nice car and should look stunning when finished! I also love the workshop! Is that the workshop the 'A' Team use and in about an hour the Mk1 will drive out looking like a Sherman Tank?
