Wasn't planning on another but when I saw this for sale looking in a sorry state and knowing it had a bit of VW history behind it I decided it deserved a 2nd chance.

It's mainly complete but has been sat since 2005. The usual bits of rot to a few of the common places but nothing too bad. (I've repaired worse!)

Plan is to just tidy it up, get it MOTd and probably a repaint and use it as a runaround.

Regards the VW history. It was one of about  10 red GTIs brought in by the UK VW press office to promote the new 1.8 engine.

A conversation in 2016 with a journalist who drove one of these 10 back in 82 originally led me to owning another mk1 press car.
